In fact, RODE tailored its frequency response specifically for speech. The omni polar pattern means the Reporter captures sound from every angle equally. Position it below your face or between you and the person you’re interviewing, and it will capture everything equally. And unlike highly sensitive condenser microphones, the Reporter provides you with the focused range you’d expect from a dynamic mic, so background noise won’t ruin your audio.

The best handheld mic for on-screen use

Body-worn lavaliers may be ideal for many on-screen ENG and interview applications, but they are often impractical and take far too long to set up. That’s when you need a quality handheld mic like the RODE Reporter. With its slender body and matte-black, anti-glare finish, the visually discreet Reporter is possibly the best handheld mic for the job. Thanks to an integrated multilayer mesh basket, there’s no bulky windscreen to catch the eye either. However, if you want to make the most of your visible microphone, then sticking your organization’s logo on the included detachable microphone flag is a great way to promote your identity.

RODE Reporter Dynamic Microphone Features:

An ideal mic for ENG, interviews, pod/broadcasting, and presentation

Omnidirectional polar pattern picks up audio from every direction

Hold your mic below your face or between you and your subject for clear sound

Moving-coil dynamic element provides short-range focus and blocks out noise

Electronics and components are specially tuned for capturing speech

Integrated multilayer mesh basket eliminates the need for a visible windscreen

Clean and discreet look with matte-black finish won’t stand out on camera

Included detachable microphone flag lets you display your organization’s logo

Built tough for serious mobile ENG use and includes RODE’s 10-year extended warranty

Protective zip case included

Designed for handheld interview and presentation applications, the Reporter features an omnidirectional dynamic capsule that is designed to allow the user freedom of use, without the technique related issues typical of directional end-address microphones.

Additionally, its frequency response has been specially tailored for voice reproduction, to maximize intelligibility and deliver crisp, clear results in almost any condition.

The microphone features a durable die-cast aluminum alloy body coated in a discrete matte black anti-glare finish.
